Overview

SoleraTec is a developer and provider of innovative software for the data storage industry. Founded in 2005 by a team of industry veterans, SoleraTec’s mission is to provide state-of-the-art data and information management solutions to small and medium sized business, as well as large enterprises, through OEM partnerships with hardware, software, and service providers.

The management team at SoleraTec has worked together in the data storage industry for almost two decades. SoleraTec's product base has a 15 year pedigree amassed in data protection, HSM, storage management, and information management solutions deployed in some of the largest companies in the world. SoleraTec works with partners as an OEM supplier and provides its software on a private labeled basis.

Mark E. Armstrong, Founder and CEO

Mark contributes a breadth of technical understanding as well as a clear vision for product depth and scope. He has been in the computer industry for over 25 years. His range of experience began with software development work at companies like McDonnell Douglas, Apollo Computers, and Hewlett Packard as well as free-lance consulting. In 1989, Mark founded Advanced Software Concepts, a software company that grew to prominence in the hierarchical storage management industry. In 2002, he founded Avail Solutions, a software company specializing in multi-tiered backup.

Ruben D. Liscano, CFO

Ruben contributes practical experience in establishing efficient, streamlined business practices. He has over 15 years experience in business finance and operations. Ruben worked as Operations and HR Manager in Advanced Software Concepts and was instrumental in the establishment and operation of Avail Solutions.

Randall L. Thorburn, VP Marketing and Sales

Randall contributes market understanding and product requirement vision as well as experience in company startup and product launch. He has been in the computer industry for over 25 years in marketing and sales management positions with companies like Autodesk, Artecon (DotHill), Advanced Software Concepts, Platinum Technology, and Knox Software (Arkeia Corp.). Randall was also part of the executive team of Avail Solutions.

SoleraTec’s flagship product, Phoenix, is one of the data storage industry’s most innovative information management solutions. Its 15 year history is evident in the breadth and depth of its technology. Phoenix resolves some of the most challenging problems facing information technologists today. It consolidates separate storage systems commonly required for backup data, reference data, regulatory data, archive data, and others into a single repository for data and information that no longer needs to reside in primary storage. It is presented as a single solution, virtualizing storage resources under a federated and distributed architecture and employs grid, pooling, tiering, and hierarchical data management strategies.
