Surveillance Video Management

Video Surveillance is everywhere and creates an enormous amount of data. When it comes to storage management and archiving of video data, however, a great majority of video surveillance systems are wanting. They rarely offer an efficient method to transfer image data automatically to a portable medium, such as tape or optical disk, and even though most video storage is off-line, most have no off-line media tracking.

Systems that do have archiving capability first cannibalize resolution and then cannibalize image frames in order to compress the data. This practice can potentially eliminate data required to produce a business or litigation outcome.

Phoenix for Surveillance Video Management (SVM) adds management to video surveillance archiving
Phoenix SVM moves video data in its entirety to secondary storage and ensures that only new and highly active video remains in the primary storage environment. Phoenix manages data in its full resolution and with all of its frames intact, so video data retains its integrity. By maintaining video data on progressively less expensive media, including portable, offline media, Phoenix preserves data for a lower per-megabyte cost over time.

Easy video data location and retrieval
Phoenix SVM Search and eDiscovery makes it easy to locate and retrieve video data. File attributes and metadata can be utilized when searching for video data. Search results are presented in a Search Engine Results Page (SERP) format, providing the ease of  internet browser-like access to data.

Because it is often difficult to distinguish between similar video files by file name and attributes, Phoenix SVM returns thumbnail representations of video files in search queries. A simple click on a thumbnail launches a low-resolution proxy file, making it easy to determine whether the correct file has been located and which part of the file is required. Search results are fast because the low-resolution proxy file is part of the metadata catalog and not the actual file itself. This functionality also enables the examination of video files that are stored off-line.

Phoenix SVM adds customer-recognized value to surveillance systems
Phoenix SVM can be integrated with any companion technology. It can be provided as part of a tightly integrated solution or as an entry-level bundle with an upgrade path. The product solves the unique management problems presented by video data. It lowers video archiving costs while preserving the full integrity of the data. It provides full management of the storage medium, and makes it easier than ever to locate, scan and retrieve required video data.
