Ingest Tools

Ingest Tools are a set of applications that locate and identify data that matches criteria defined in policies and move or copy it into the Information Repository where it is stored and protected.

Ingest Tools include the following:

Data Replicator – A backup application that meets the needs of today’s demanding computing environments. The application may be used manually or configured to operate automatically and unattended.

Data Mover – A component that moves targeted data into the Information Repository based on specified parameters. Once it is determined that the data is safely in the Information Repository, the network original instance of the data is deleted from the system.

De-Duplication Processing

As the Ingest Tools send data to the Information Repository, a de-duplication processor checks to see if an instance of the data is already in storage and prevents the duplication of data. De-duplication increases the overall performance of the system and, by ensuring that only a single instance of data is stored, maximizes the efficient use of storage resources in the Information Repository.
